[First Live Photos] BMW M340d in Laguna Seca Blue

The new BMW M340d was supposed to make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2020. Due to the cancelation of the show, a lot of fans won’t be able to see it live for the first time. In these first live photos, we get to see a first real-life glimpse of the new BMW M340d.

Based on these photos, the new BMW M340d G20 is actually identical to the M34i. The only distinguishable factor is the model badge on the rear.

The overall style is also very much similar to the standard M Sport package but there are small details that make it unique. First is the mesh kidney grille, the exterior mirrors in Cerium Grey, and accents in this color as well.

The new BMW M340d is powered by a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine that is supported by a 48-volt electrical system. This doesn’t just improve the agility of the drive, it also helps it achieve the 250 kW / 340 PS and 700 Newton meters of torque. That even more power than the current M40d models!

The car also comes with an all-wheel-drive xDrive set up. hen the driver wants it and is in Sport Plus mode with DTC or even completely deactivated DSC, a large part of the 700 Nm of torque is sent to the rear wheels. The continuously variable M sport differential on the rear axle ensures that the power can also be optimally distributed between the two rear wheels.
