In 2019, BMW aims to surprise the automotive world with a beautiful compact four-door coupe car that will compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The car will be under the internal codename F44 during the development phase. Upon launching it to the market, it will be sold under the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe badge.
The design of the exterior will be inspired by the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible models. The platform will be slightly longer though, so it can accommodate increased size and a sleek roof line which is expected to be more rounded. The 2 Series Gran Coupe will feature short overhangs at the front and a coupe-like profile overall.
For the power plants, 3- and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines are expected to be offered. It is highly likely to also have a PHEV version in the line-up.
If this car does arrive in 2019, then the lifecycle of the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be a quote short since in 2021 the second generation 2 Series is also up for market launching.
