Following photos of an M3 Touring, BMW’s supercar has resurfaced. The Bavarian answer to the Mercedes-AMG C63 has once again been revealed without any camouflage. The patent photos show a performance estate based on the pre-facelift 3 Series. If this trademark application is older, it could be because logic tells us that the M3 Touring will get the same improvements as the M3 sedan.
The car lacks the spoke pattern on the alloy wheels, and the BMW emblem is also absent. It is obvious that this is not the normal 3 Series Touring or the M340i. This includes the radiator grille, the stronger front air intakes and the quad exhaust system. The M-specific side mirror caps and the side vents on the front wings indicate that this is the King of the Hill. But the roof spoiler remains unchanged on the top-of-the-range 3 Series estate.
Customers can only choose for one option. Unlike the saloon, the xDrive wagon will only be available with rear-wheel drive. If you want a manual transmission, you will have to settle for an 8-speed automatic from BMW. Incidentally, the M3 Touring will only be available in the Competition version.
We will never see the G81 here in the United States because of its designation. The iDrive 8 will come with the next LCI for the fast car for the entire 3 Series family. Although we have heard rumours that production will begin in November, we can expect an official announcement sooner rather than later. When the current-generation 3 Series is phased out in 2025, the new model will still be available. Later this year, an i3 sedan will be added to the 3 Series, but it will only be available in China.
