BMW M2 G87 Takes on AMG A45 S in Epic Drag Battle

The BMW M2 and the Mercedes-AMG A45 S stand out as formidable contenders. While both exude luxury and power, their differences are stark. The M2 boasts a rear-wheel-drive and a potent inline-six, while the A45 S relies on an all-wheel-drive and a punchy four-cylinder engine.

A recent drag race between the two showcased their capabilities. The BMW M2, with its eight-speed automatic transmission, faced off against the AMG A45 S, also equipped with an eight-speed gearbox. With 453 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, the M2 holds a significant advantage over the AMG.

At the Aldo Scribante circuit in South Africa, the race unfolded. The A45 S initially surged ahead with its AWD advantage, but the M2 quickly caught up, thanks to its superior power. Ultimately, the BMW dominated the quarter-mile stretch, leaving the AMG in its wake.

While the AMG A45 S may have reached its peak, BMW is just getting started with the M2. With plans for a more potent CS variant and a potential xDrive model, the Bavarian marque promises even greater performance. The future M2, with over 500 horsepower and all-wheel-drive, could redefine the compact performance segment, outclassing the AMG A45 S.
