The BMW M440i Convertible Sports A New Look

The BMW M440i xDrive Convertible takes the spotlight in the latest photoshoot in Germany. This new BMW 4 Series Convertible is from the brand new 4 Series Coupe, but all new style elements share the same mechanics. The most noticeable alteration is the roof, which folds down. In this photoshoot, the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible features the shade of San Remo Green.

The previous 4 Series Convertible’s roof uses a metal-folding hardtop convertible. For its latest drop-top, the 4 Series ditches the folding metal roof in favour of a thinner and less complex soft-top that’s 40-percent heavier. The chassis structure reduces its weight and the centre of gravity.

Owing to a much more compact roof that totals 9.0 cubic feet, the new 4 Series Convertible gains 1.2 cubic feet of trunk space. This new soft-top roof’s cool aspect is that it comes in two distinct colours. The simple black top is very transparent. But the optional Moonlight Black roof adds a metallic shimmer when hit by direct sunlight. BMW also improves the torsional rigidity and strength of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible. The front and rear axle apply the additional bracing as well. BMW also added new side skirts with increased rigidity with a thin front frame. It also comes with a new rear floor plate, a reinforced transmission tube.

In terms of rigidity, all these improvisations are almost similar to the Coupe. Due to the same active suspension and the same engines, it still performs just as well as the Coupe. The BMW M440i Convertible will be available in the United States, with either rear-wheel drive as standard or xDrive all-wheel drive as an option. With the exception of some Convertible-specific updates, this new topless 4 Series is still a 4 Series.

The BMW M440i Convertible retains its 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-inline engine, which produces 382 horsepower and 369Nm of torque. The M440i also includes a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. San Remo Green is one of the modern and exciting shades and the convertible looks really gorgeous in it. Portimao Blue Metallic, Arctic Race Blue Metallic, Sunset Orange Metallic, and Bluestone Metallic also perfectly blend with the traditional BMW colour palette, creating a more diverse palette than most other BMW’s. These shades are all a welcome addition, but the San Remo Green is the most striking of all.
