In April, BMW introduced the first M Performance car to include a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. And the first M Performance PHEV will go into production in November. New photos of the 2023 M760e are being released alongside the news.

The electrified performance-oriented 7er is powered by a 380 horsepower, 3.0 litre inline-six engine at 5,200 rpm and 520 Nm of torque. The M760e has 571 hp and 800 Nm of torque thanks to the combination of its gasoline engine and electric motor. The powerful hybrid arrangement can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4.3 seconds. It just takes 2.7 seconds to go from 50 to 75 mph, so there’s plenty of power for passing.

The lithium-ion battery pack’s 18.7 kWh allows for a 53-mile WLTP cycle range. As long as you charge the battery, that should be enough for short city rides without emissions. BMW’s latest batteries improve usable energy by 50% over their predecessors. It supports charging at 7.4 kW maximum.

The M760e’s exterior features restyled quad exhaust tips to suit its M Performance classification. The plug-in hybrid SUV’s rear bumper has stacked tips, unlike the 2023 XM. The sporty luxobarge has a two-tone paint job, but a single colour is available.
