BMW i5 M60 Beats EPA Range Estimates in Real-World Test - BMW.SG | BMW Singapore Owners Community

BMW i5 M60 Beats EPA Range Estimates in Real-World Test

The 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive, a long-term test car at Edmunds, was put through the EV Range Test. This vehicle, equipped with 21-inch wheels, boasts an EPA-estimated range of 240 miles per charge. However, it significantly outperformed this estimate, achieving 264 miles of range under real-world conditions.

As the team settles into extended testing with the BMW i5 M60 xDrive, they decided to challenge the Edmunds Top Rated winner with their rigorous real-world range test. BMWs generally perform well in these tests, but the i5 M60 was impressive, surpassing its EPA estimate by 10%.

During the Edmunds EV Range Test, the all-wheel-drive BMW i5 M60 recorded a real-world range of 264 miles. This is noteworthy, especially since the EPA suggests that an i5 M60 xDrive with 21-inch wheels should achieve only 240 miles. This result of 264 miles even exceeds the EPA ratings for the same model equipped with 20- and 19-inch wheels, estimated at 248 and 256 miles, respectively.

The i5 M60 also excelled in energy consumption. The EPA expects the i5 M60 xDrive to use 40 kWh per 100 miles. However, the vehicle tested used only 35 kWh per 100 miles, marking a substantial improvement and highlighting its efficiency.
