[Video] Fastest Diesel: AC Schnitzer ACS1 5.0d

Many people thought the AC Schnitzer ACS1 5.0d was an overkill. The general idea was that the 1 Series chassis won’t be able to go with the insane horsepower and torque the tri-turbo diesel engine would provide. Still, the tuner showed everyone that they have not only built an amazing track car.

Actually, the ACS1 5.0d broke the record on the Hockenheim Ring. That is the track used by the AC Schnitzer to measure how fast and strong their cars are. So, this record applies to that track only, it’s not the fastest car in the world.

It achieved the lap time of 1:13.80, which is better than Porsche 911 Carrera 4S or Cayman S had.

So, what’s the engine under the hood of this beast? It’s tuned N57S 3.0-liter tri-turbo diesel. It has 400 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. It requires only 4.5 seconds to achieve 100 km/h from standstill and 7.9 seconds to go from 80 to 180 km/h.
