BMW M3 Challenges AMG C63 and Audi RS4 in Drag Race

In the latest drag race by Carwow, the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S Estate takes on its fiercest rivals—the BMW M3 Touring and the Audi RS4 Competition. Fans of AMG, BMW, and Audi have been eagerly awaiting this face-off to see which performance car reigns supreme.

First, the AMG C63 S Estate has boldly moved by swapping its traditional V8 engine for a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Despite this downsizing, the car still produces an impressive 476 horsepower. An electric motor on the rear axle adds another 204 horsepower, bringing the total output to a staggering 680 horsepower and 1,020 Nm of torque. With a 9-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, this tech-heavy car weighs 2,190 kg and costs around £99,750.

Next, the BMW M3 Touring features a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine, delivering 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Weighing 1,865 kg, the M3 is lighter than the AMG and priced at £88,800, making it a competitive contender in performance and cost.

Lastly, the Audi RS4 Competition, a limited-edition model with only 75 units in the UK, boasts a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This car generates 450 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, distributed to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The RS4 is the lightest and most affordable car in this race, weighing 1,745 kg and priced at £84,600.

With the specs laid out, the stage was set for the drag race. As the cars lined up, anticipation built. With its powerful hybrid setup, the AMG appeared to have a clear advantage. However, with their balanced engineering, BMW and Audi were not to be underestimated.

When the race began, the AMG C63 S took an early lead, leveraging its combined power and advanced launch control. The BMW M3 held its own, closely trailing the AMG, while the Audi RS4 showed impressive acceleration despite its lower power output. Each car demonstrated its unique strengths throughout the race, but the AMG’s hybrid system provided a noticeable edge in maintaining speed.

As the cars crossed the finish line, the AMG C63 S clinched the victory, completing the standing quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. The BMW M3 followed closely with a time of 11.6 seconds, and the Audi RS4, though trailing, still posted a respectable 11.9 seconds.

This drag race highlighted these high-performance estates’ technological advancements and performance capabilities. Each car showcased why it stands out in the competitive world of luxury sports cars, with the AMG’s hybrid powertrain proving to be a game-changer.

Ultimately, the AMG C63 S emerged as the winner of this thrilling showdown, reaffirming its place as a top contender in the performance car segment. However, the BMW M3 and Audi RS4 also demonstrated prowess, making this drag race a must-watch for automotive enthusiasts.
