The fully electric MINI Cooper has just added another safety trophy to its cabinet, taking Euro NCAP’s “Best in Class” title as the Safest City & Supermini of 2025. It follows the car’s five-star crash rating achieved in March 2025, reinforcing that this compact EV is engineered to handle urban hazards as confidently as it tackles the daily commute.
MINI’s latest Cooper Electric line-up spans the Cooper E, Cooper SE and John Cooper Works Electric, and the safety package isn’t something you have to hunt for on an options list. Euro NCAP highlighted strong occupant protection backed by a cohesive safety concept, with active and passive systems working together to reduce the severity of an impact and help avoid one in the first place.
Driver assistance tech plays a major part in that outcome, particularly where city traffic is unpredictable. Features such as standard pelvic seatbelt pretensioners and a broad suite of assistance systems are designed to support the driver when conditions get messy, whether that’s stop-start congestion, tight junctions or sudden braking in a packed lane.
The scores underline the point: 89% for adult occupant protection, 87% for child safety, 79% for safety assist systems, and 77% for protection of pedestrians and cyclists—strong figures for this class of car. MINI also points to similarly top-rated models in its range, but this Best in Class result puts the electric Cooper right at the front of the premium small-car pack for peace of mind.
