Schubert Motorsport put its pair of BMW M4 GT3 EVOs through their paces at the official DTM test in Oschersleben, laying important groundwork for the season’s first races on 26th and 27th April. The team utilised the sessions to familiarise themselves with the car’s latest EVO upgrades and to adapt to the new Pirelli tyres mandated in the championship. René Rast and Marco Wittmann racked up more than 250 laps between them, giving Schubert Motorsport a solid foundation of data and driver feedback.
Rast tackled 129 laps in the #33 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, sporting a new RoboMarkets livery, while Wittmann logged 132 laps in his “Green Machine” Schaeffler-branded #11 car. Both drivers were impressed by the reworked platform’s responsiveness. Wittmann noted the improved operating window compared to last year’s version, and Rast focused on getting accustomed to the EVO’s tweaks. The objective is to extract every bit of potential from these cars, continuing Schubert’s momentum as reigning DTM team champions.
The BMW M4 GT3 EVO features significant refinements over its predecessor, including brake-system enhancements developed by Endless, a racing brake specialist. Their collaboration, which originally covered select series like the DTM and Intercontinental GT Challenge, has expanded across BMW M Motorsport’s global GT3 programme. Both organisations view this extended partnership as a springboard for further innovation in top-level GT competition.
Looking ahead to race day, Schubert Motorsport’s methodical approach ensures the cars are fully dialled in once the lights go out in Oschersleben. With invaluable test mileage, a refined car, and top-tier driver talent in Rast and Wittmann, the team is primed to begin the new DTM season chasing victories—and eager to defend their hard-won crown.
