Made from Reality: BMW M6 GT3 to Gran Turismo Sport

Kazunori Yamauchi, the Gran Turismo series producer and game designer, participated in the 44th Nürburgring 24h race. He drove the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3. Check out this awesome documentary that shows us day 1 of the initial preparations to the addition of checkered flag, and a few interviews that give really good insight on how they turned a BMW M6 GT3 to a Gran Turismo Sport.

Polyphony Digital is the producer of the Gran Turismo Sport video game. This video was released on the official Gran Turismo Youtube channel to showcase just how much time and effort goes in to creating the video game and making it great.

What people love about Gran Turismo games, or any similar game for that matter, is that they seem very realistic when played. The more realistic the game is, the better. To ensure that they are releasing a very realistic game, Yamauchi himself drove a BMW M6 GT3 to experience how it is to be in that position in real life.

Yamauchi is the brilliant mind behind the Gran Turismo franchise. Wonder what his secret is? He is also a professional racing driver. As you see in the vide, he is very capable of handling the wild beast that is the new M6 GT3 in a challenging track like the Nurburgring.

It was not a good time to race though. The Ring was slippery with ice and so there were a lot of crashes in this particular race. Still, the #101 BMW M6 GT3 driven by Yamauchi, Henkola, Richardson and Sandritter finished in 22nd place.
