BMW M4 Competition Joins Western Australia Police for Special Duty

The BMW M4 Competition coupe has officially become part of the Western Australia Police Force, standing out as one of their fleet’s fastest and most eye-catching vehicles. This high-performance two-door coupe adds a dash of excitement to law enforcement’s vehicle lineup, even if it won’t be racing down highways for regular patrol duties.

This isn’t the first time Australian police have embraced BMW’s high-performance vehicles. New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory utilise unmarked M3 sedans, while Tasmania has integrated the M340i sedans into its highway patrol fleet. Across the country, various states rely on BMW 530d sedans, wagons, and X5 SUVs for their policing needs, alongside other models such as the Skoda Superb and Kia Stinger.

Although the M4 wears full Highway Patrol livery, its primary role will be promotional. Loaned by BMW Australia, the coupe will participate in community engagement events and showcase the partnership between the automaker and law enforcement. The vehicle’s striking design and cutting-edge engineering are sure to draw attention wherever it goes.

Under the bonnet, the M4 Competition boasts a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that delivers impressive performance figures, including a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds. Despite its capabilities, the car’s use will remain focused on making a statement rather than high-speed chases.

Western Australia Police are also exploring sustainable options for their fleet, with trials of vehicles like the Kia EV6 GT-Line and hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai. The inclusion of these cutting-edge models reflects a growing trend toward incorporating innovation and environmental consciousness in modern policing.
