LOOK: BMW M5 CS By Manhart Kicks Off With 788 HP

Car enthusiasts will always want more power than a high-performance car comes with. For those with an insatiable need for speed, even BMW’s most powerful production car at launch, the M5 CS, has been tuned to produce significantly more horsepower. The limited-edition super sedan’s twin-turbo V8 has been upgraded by German aftermarket specialist Manhart, allowing for 788 hp.

The boost in torque from 680 Nm to 935 Nm from the standard M5 CS to M5 CS M Performance excites enthusiasts. Manhart’s decision not to switch transmissions implies the ZF eight-speed is capable. It also has the original carbon-ceramic brakes, although an update is available on demand. The 100 mm-diameter quad carbon exhaust tips and valve-controlled stainless steel system are also noteworthy upgrades. Ceramic coatings are also available for exhaust finishers. In states that allow it, the M5 CS Manhart can have a straight-piped system without a catalytic converter.

Custom 21-inch wheels with Michelin 265/30 ZR21 and 305/25 ZR21 tyres are part of the MH5 GTR package designed for the high-performance sedan. The standard finish for these metals is a silvery grey, although Manhart may paint them any colour the buyer wants. Alterations consist of new floor mats and white body decals.

The base M5 CS can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only three seconds and from 0 to 124 km/h in just 10.3 seconds. At top speed, it is limited to a maximum of 189 mph by electronics. Since the M5 CS was only manufactured for a year, Manhart is speaking to a small audience. The same tuner has announced both the M2 G87 and M3 Touring packages for release in 2023.
