The BMW X7 isn’t exactly long in the tooth, but the clock is already ticking towards a new generation. With prototypes of the next flagship SUV starting to surface, the render scene has gone into overdrive—and one digital “facelift” doing the rounds shows how awkward the handover to Neue Klasse styling could look if you graft the new face onto today’s car.
In this unofficial rework, the front end is the main event. The split-light look is ditched in favour of a cleaner headlamp arrangement, while the twin-kidney grille is broadened without becoming dramatically taller. The bumper follows the same theme: familiar overall shape, but sharpened details and a more modernised intake treatment that tries to pull the X7 towards BMW’s upcoming design direction.
From the doors back, it’s very much business as usual, which is where the “between two worlds” feeling comes from. The glasshouse, surfacing, shutlines and hardware remain recognisably current-gen, so the new nose reads like a mask rather than a full redesign. Lowering the ride height in a render helps the stance, but it can’t hide that the proportions were penned for a different design language.
The real next-gen X7 is expected to commit properly, with Neue Klasse cues integrated into the whole body rather than just the face. Expect squarer intakes, cleaner flanks, and more flush-fitting details, plus a cabin that leans hard into BMW’s panoramic display approach with a wide driver-focused strip and a large central screen. Underneath, the big SUV is widely tipped to continue with an evolved version of BMW’s current architecture, supporting both combustion and electric derivatives—meaning the next X7’s biggest change may be how cohesively BMW blends a new design identity into a familiar full-size package.
