The Alpine slots in with respectable but unremarkable charging capability, and the Lexus trails the field with its smaller battery, slower charging and disappointing efficiency figures that leave it well adrift.

The BMW iX3 stands a class above its rivals, combining a dynamic driving experience, cutting-edge technology, strong real-world range and rapid charging into a package that no competitor here can better across the board. The Tesla Model Y remains a compelling all-rounder with unbeatable efficiency and generous interior space, the Audi SQ6 impresses with its beautifully crafted cabin, and the Alpine A390 delivers genuine driver engagement in a distinctive shape. The Lexus RZ550e, despite recent updates, struggles to keep pace in almost every measurable area. For anyone in the market for a premium electric SUV, the iX3 is not just the best car in this test but the finest in its class.
