The new BMW i4 M60 lands as the most muscular version of the electric saloon yet, and BMW’s first battery model to eclipse its own petrol M4 CS for outright power. With two motors delivering a combined 593 bhp, the i4 M60 launches from rest to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds, shading the outgoing i4 M50 and sitting a whisker behind the super-coupé in a straight line while leaving it for dead in torque.

That firepower reaches all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive set-up, balancing traction with the playful agility keen drivers expect from an M-badged machine. Uprated brakes and chassis software keep the extra shove in check, and the low-mounted battery gives the saloon a centre of gravity closer to a sports coupé than a family fastback.
More power does ask for a compromise: the official range settles at 269 miles, reflecting the car’s broader tyres and higher output. To claw back efficiency, BMW fits new silicon-carbide inverters that trim energy losses across the entire i4 line-up; entry models gain up to 22 kilometres between charges, and charging speeds remain among the quickest in class.
Every updated i4 benefits from an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty that guarantees at least 70 per cent of its original capacity. Should the pack dip below that threshold within the term, BMW will restore it free of charge, easing any lingering range anxiety.
Orders for the refreshed i4 family open immediately, with first UK deliveries scheduled for summer. In the meantime, the BMW i4 M60 stands as proof that Munich’s electric performance cars are not merely keeping pace with their petrol icons—they are beginning to pull ahead.
