Its official! The legendary BMW Films are making a comeback. BMW USA posted a few details about this official comeback in Facebook. The main star of the new film will be Clive Owen and it will be entitled “The Escape”. A few other stars, including Dakota Fanning, Vera Vermiga and Jon Bernthal will also be on the first film. Famous director Neill Blomkamp, who has also been responsible for a couple of box office hits, will be in charge of the production.

A teaser was published together with a microsite with more information at www.bmwfilms.com

Since 2001, BMW branded films helped in marketing Ultimate Driving Machines. The films are just around 10 minutes in length. There were eight short films in a series produced for the internet viewing from 2001 to 2002. BMW has always tapped big names to direct the films including Ang Lee, John Woo, Guy Ritchie and the late John Frankenheimer.

In this new series, Clive Owen plays “The Driver”, a man who goes from place to place (in presumably rented BMW automobiles), getting hired by various people to be a sort of transport for their vital needs.
