The BMW M4 has never been short of muscle, yet G-Power clearly saw headroom in the S58. The Bavarian tuner has shown off its latest G82 project on social media, badged the G4M Bi-Turbo. The roundels have been prised off and replaced with the tuner’s own emblems, which tells you the coupe has been worked over properly. Underneath sits the GP-700 performance software, a fresh exhaust and a set of sport downpipes.
The numbers do the talking. The twin-turbo straight-six now musters 690bhp, or 700 metric horsepower, alongside 627lb-ft of torque. Line that up against the factory sheet and the gap is enormous. A standard M4 Coupe makes 473bhp, the Competition steps up to 503bhp, and the Competition xDrive tops the range at 523bhp. G-Power has therefore found roughly another M2’s worth of output.
Acceleration figures have not been published, which is a shame. Some rough maths still paints the picture. A factory M4 Competition xDrive Coupe hits 60mph in 3.4 seconds, the rear-drive Competition needs 3.8, and the base car takes 4.1. Add nearly 170bhp and a sprint somewhere close to three seconds looks entirely plausible. Traction, not grunt, becomes the limiting factor.
The GP-700 is not even the ceiling. G-Power’s catalogue for the G8X runs from a mild 600 metric horsepower tune through a pair of 650 kits, up to a monster that unlocks 800 metric horsepower and 664lb-ft. Owners can pile on carbon bonnets, rear wings, diffusers and side skirts, plus kidney grilles, engine covers, steering wheels and paddle shifters. Coilovers, forged wheels and fully bespoke cabins round off the menu.
There is a decent reason tuners keep circling this car. The G82 Coupe and G83 Convertible are tipped to soldier on until roughly mid-2029, while the M3 prepares to hand over to a successor with a battery-powered sibling on a new platform. Mercedes-AMG is sharpening the CLE 63 and the Mythos in the meantime. The current M4 has plenty of road left, and builds like this one keep it firmly in the conversation.
