The BMW M4 GT3 EVO took centre stage at the Sachsenring, where Schubert Motorsport and drivers Marco Wittmann and René Rast proved that determination can outweigh difficult starting positions. Against challenging conditions across both races, the pair delivered remarkable drives that kept their championship hopes alive.

Saturday’s race unfolded in torrential rain, transforming the circuit into a slippery battleground. Starting from 12th, Wittmann handled the conditions with precision in his #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, climbing to seventh by the chequered flag. Rast, meanwhile, fought hard but settled for 14th in the downpour.
Sunday brought clear skies but left both BMWs buried deep in the grid, with Rast and Wittmann qualifying only 18th and 19th. What followed was a display of pure racing skill. Wittmann surged through the field to take fifth, while Rast clawed his way up to sixth after bold overtakes and faultless consistency. Their progress was helped by rivals’ errors, but the BMW duo’s clean execution and racecraft secured crucial points.
The performances mean both drivers remain firmly in the title chase, with Rast sitting seventh overall and Wittmann ninth, while Schubert Motorsport holds third in the team standings. With four races left, the Red Bull Ring looms as the next battleground – a circuit where BMW has a strong record.
Elsewhere, the BMW M4 GT4 EVO shone in the ADAC GT4 Germany with a commanding one-two finish. FK Performance Motorsport’s Gabriele Piana and Berkay Besler took victory, while ME Motorsport secured second and fourth, underlining BMW’s strength across categories.
The Sachsenring weekend highlighted not only the resilience of Schubert Motorsport but also the versatility of BMW machinery. With the championship picture still wide open, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO has proven it has the pace and endurance to keep the fight alive right to the very end.
