[Video] BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe takes IIHS Crash Test

The crowd favorite, BMW 2er Gran Coupe has overtaken the market this year. It directly competes with the Audi A3 Sedan and other A-Class sedan. In this video, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe takes the IIHS crash test. And we already expected a good score for it considering its competitors.

The video precisely presents what happens when the 2er Gran Coupe hits a crash. IIHS recently presented this new small overlap crash test as part of its procedures. This test includes all types of possible crashes. Frontal and side crash tests have been around for years now. But not all crash accidents occur that way. In fact, most crashes happen on various surfaces. Therefore, IIHS deemed this small overlap test important.

As shown in the video, the whole car is destroyed but IIHS assured that the people inside would live. IIHS said that the frontal and side curtain airbags would perfectly protect the occupant’s head. These will keep the head from bumping on any structure that could cause critical injury. Also, the driver seat’s space was retained resulting in only minor injuries on the dummy’s legs. The position of the dummy in terms of the door frame, steering wheel, and the dashboard shows high survival. With a maintained survival space, the driver would survive a crash in the 2 Series Gran Coupe.

Overall, IIHS rated the 2er “Good” in almost all tests it took. It even had a “Superior” rate for the front crash prevention test. Therefore, the scores IIHS gave assures protection in case of a crash. In other words, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is a good option if you want a highly protective car in case of a crash.
