MINI Countryman E Boosts Range With Smarter EV Hardware

MINI is sharpening the all-electric Countryman line with a set of technical upgrades due to arrive in March 2026, aiming to push efficiency and everyday usability forward. The focus is on the Countryman E, which now targets a WLTP range figure topping 500 kilometres, turning MINI’s largest model into a more convincing compact SUV for commuting, school runs and longer stints on the motorway.

The extra distance isn’t down to one magic fix, but a stack of engineering tweaks working together. A new silicon-carbide inverter improves energy conversion and cuts electrical losses, while a higher usable battery capacity helps keep more kilowatt-hours available for the road. MINI has also reduced rolling resistance with friction-reduced front wheel bearings, the sort of detail that doesn’t shout for attention but pays back mile after mile.

Space and flexibility remain central to the Countryman’s appeal. The cabin is designed to cope with family life and the kit that comes with it, with a boot that can expand to 1,450 litres when you fold the rear seats. For longer journeys, DC rapid charging is part of the package, with MINI quoting a 10–80 per cent top-up in under half an hour under the right conditions, helping the Countryman fit more easily into a busy schedule.

On the styling front, MINI is leaning into a more purposeful SUV stance while keeping the brand’s familiar cues. Aero work plays a bigger role than you might expect, with a quoted drag coefficient of 0.26, and trim-specific details are used to give the electric versions a distinct look, from wheel designs aimed at smoothing airflow to colour and roof combinations that add visual punch.

Inside, the headline feature is a 24 cm OLED centre display handling infotainment and driver assistance functions, with support for Level 2 driving assistance where regulations allow. Put together, the updates read like a proper engineering refresh rather than a cosmetic tweak, making the Countryman E a more rounded electric option for drivers who want MINI character with the range and practicality to back it up.
