Unlike the three-door Cooper, the Aceman combines the brand’s signature design with additional space and a distinct, elevated crossover feel, making it more adaptable while maintaining the Mini’s funky flair.
Designed by Thomas Sycha, the Aceman sports a minimalist exterior without chrome and a standout black off-road trim. This rugged touch accentuates the angular wheel arches, giving the car a slender profile despite its crossover stance. The Favoured Trim version features an eye-catching interior with vibrant colour accents and a petrol-toned dashboard, adding personality, although some might find it overwhelming. A sleek, round OLED display brings a modern twist to the cabin, complete with a detailed Google Earth map that highlights the display’s clarity.
Underneath, the Aceman SE boasts an H-shaped battery that cleverly lowers the cabin floor to accommodate passengers’ feet, enhancing comfort and optimizing energy density. Unlike the Cooper’s model, the Aceman’s B mode, activated via toggle, provides strong regenerative braking with ease, though steering wheel paddles for recuperation adjustments are absent. With a powerful 218 PS motor, the Aceman SE feels fast on city roads, although its front-wheel drive setup tugs slightly when cornering sharply.
Driving the Aceman SE reveals its firm suspension, which is evident on even the smoothest roads. This crossover is agile and stable, designed for short trips rather than long hauls. The handling stays steady under swift steering changes, emphasizing the car’s agility and reinforcing its sporty character. Currently available for order, the Aceman SE faces competition from similarly sized electric crossovers, including the Smart #1 and Opel Corsa Electric. It’s a unique addition that suits Mini’s lively style, combining compactness with distinct design and a spirited driving experience.
