BMW will unveil their first X2 SAV in a few weeks’ time. In September, we’ll see the sporty compact truck at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Market launch will follow in 2017. Here is a new rendering of what it may look like:
The BMW X2 will be built using the X1’s front-wheel drive platform. The inspiration for the body style is the larger X4 and X6. Layout-wise, it will have five-doors, a tailgate set at a more extreme angle to achieve a coupe-like silhouette, higher rear belt line, smaller rear window, and a swept roofline that’s more aggressive. These are slightly seen in the new rendering above.
For the interior, it is expected to look like the new X1’s. Materials to be used in the cabin are premium and a wide range of customization options will be available to the customer.
The entire range will be made up of BMW’s new 3 and 4-cylinder engines but a high-performance B48 unit will also be used for an M Performance model. It can be called M35i or something else. BMW has not given us clues yet. What’s sure now is that both 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engines will have a power output of more than 320 HP.
In terms of pricing, it will be lean more towards the X3 than the X1.
