After the unveiling of the new BMW 5 Series, BMW dealerships are complaining that the demand is simply too big and there are not enough units for everyone.
The biggest BMW retailer in the U.S., Sonic Automotive Inc., informed that the supplies are “really, really light.”
It seems that the Bavarians didn’t expect the 2017 5 Series to become such a hit. Ludwig Willisch, head of BMW Group Region Americas, said:
So it’s a scarce species. Was it really expected to be that low? I don’t think so, but it’s one of the nicer problems to have.
BMW is about to ramp up production and try to keep up with the demand. On the other hand, the short supply is practical; they don’t want to oversupply.
