BMW is making a special 3 Series in Brazil alongside its standard petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models. The BMW 320i Flex Fuel with ActiveFlex technology is tailored for Brazilian customers and the fuels available in the country. Due to modifications to the 2.0-litre four-cylinder B48 turbocharged engine, it is not only capable of running on Brazilian ethanol at a concentration of 25%. It can also run on ethanol alone. The 320i Flex Fuel is also the best-selling BMW in Brazil and the best-selling premium vehicle in the country.
To mark the 30,000 3 Series vehicles produced in Araquari, Santa Catarina since its 2014 production, BMW week launched the 320i Flex Fuel. There are seven colour options for the seventh generation BMW 3 Series in Brazil. These are all with flex-fuel engines and available in three different trim levels: 320i, 318td and 320i M Sport. The BMW 3 Series is also available in seven different trim levels: 320i GP, 320i Sport GT, 320i M Sport and the 320i M Coupé.
In 2014, the 3 Series was the first automobile produced in Brazil. To mark its fifth anniversary, the plant decided to produce only 24 examples of this model for 2019. The model is called the “BMW 320i M Sport 5 Years Edition”.
In addition, the Brazilian plant currently produces the X1, X3 and X4 models and will resume production in January 2022. This year, the plant will produce around 10,000 cars, the same number as in 2021. BMW has enormous potential in the Brazilian market. That is why despite having more than 200 million inhabitants, it has the largest GDP on the continent.
