Consumer Reports does an annual exercise of analysing the automakers in the market and determining which the best among them all is. BMW is third in ranking, just behind Porsche and the winner, Audi.

BMW is third in Consumer Reports Annual Ranking

It is somehow strange that Audi got a ranking that is higher than BMW in terms of customer satisfaction and reliability. However, these are the results based on many factors such as “road tests, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety” across their entire line-ups. All of these factors contribute to an overall score. The process is said to be very fair to all automakers. Even the smallest of the smallest carmakers can make it to the list. Even Tesla, a car company that only has two cars in its line-up.

Given that BMW’s line up is very huge and it is a luxury brand with very complex manufacturing, it is still a great feat to be featured as third in ranking. BMW’s overall score was 77. Consumer Report says that BMW’s predicted reliability was actually painfully mediocre, but the customer satisfaction rating was quite good. That evens out to a very decent overall score. Audi’s Overall Score was 81.
