The BMW M2 CS returns as a sharpened coupé that pushes the compact M car formula closer to Porsche Cayman GT4 RS territory. Built on the latest G87 generation yet bypassing the usual Competition step, this flagship adopts a strengthened twin-turbo three-litre straight-six expected to deliver comfortably beyond 500 bhp and 650 Nm. Power flows to the rear axle through an eight-speed automatic, while a manual gearbox appears unlikely for this edition.

Visual clues underline the intent. A prominent ducktail spoiler is moulded into the bootlid, echoing the larger M4 CSL, and works with a bespoke rear diffuser to balance downforce. Up front, a matt-black splitter, wider intakes and a carbon-fibre roof reduce mass high in the structure, complemented by staggered gold forged wheels that fill the arches to perfection. Prototype sightings confirm deeper cooling vents and a more forceful stance, suggesting suspension revisions aimed at sharper turn-in and flatter cornering.

Cabin changes keep pace with the exterior. Lightweight bucket seats trimmed in Merino leather and Alcantara grip driver and passenger, while a carbon-fibre centre console and prominent ‘CS’ badging remind occupants that this is the pinnacle of the M2 line-up. BMW’s latest curved display remains, but bespoke software is likely to introduce extra track-oriented modes and data logging.
Production numbers are expected to be restricted, mirroring the 2,200-unit run of the previous M2 CS. UK deliveries should commence within months, and with demand certain to outstrip supply, enthusiasts eager to secure Munich’s most focused small coupé will need to act promptly once order books open.
