G20/G21 tops the BMW automotive market in Germany

The BMW 3 Series G20 sedan and G21 Touring remain to dominate the Bavarian’s market in Germany. In the latest registration report, 5,331 units of the 3 Series were sold in November 2020. It leads over the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Moving forward, the front-wheel-drive 1 Series sold 3,078 units and came as second best-selling BMW. Closely followed by the X1 Sports Activity Vehicle with 3,047 units sold. The G20/G21 3 Series sold this year still appears higher than in November 2019, despite the pandemic and every effect that comes with it.

The registration report reveals that the 1, 4, X1, X5, X6, and i3 also came higher in sales than the previous year’s November sales. Meanwhile, things around the BMW i3 seem pretty good for getting 546 customers in November 2019 and successfully selling 1,302 last month. In the United States, its demand continues to be stable, with many dealers reporting a lack of available units.

New registrations of BMW cars fell 14.9 percent in Germany for the first eleven months in 2020. At the same time, its overall market shrunk by 21.6 percent. Despite the setback, models like the 1 and 5 Series and the X6 and X7 showed an increase in sales.

Like any other market, the corona badly affected the automotive market in 2020. At some point in Spring 2020, car production and sales came to a halt, yet quickly recovered in the Summer, with most markets reporting very little inventory left. This has to do with the switch from public transportation and car-sharing to once again owning your vehicle. Obviously, none of us knew that would happen.

The question of whether the alternative means of transportation will get better in 2021, stays unsure. All the same, the future cannot be stopped for the automotive industry and the numbers don’t lie about it.
