2023 BMW X4 in Elegant Anglesey Green & Cognac Interior

Breaking away from the usual trend of reserving lavish features for M or M Performance models, this X4 stands out. It’s not an M40i or the top-tier X4 M, yet it sports an impressive list of specifications. A recent walkaround video highlights this unique X4 xDrive20i, equipped with the M Sport Package and a range of captivating options, despite its more modest designation.

Starting off, the Sports Activity Coupe boasts a striking Individual paint job in Anglesey Green Metallic. This tint, first seen on the XM earlier this year, now adorns the compact X4, complemented by numerous black accents. The vehicle features M Sport brakes with blue callipers, showcasing the iconic three colours and the phrase “world’s most powerful letter.” These are paired with 20-inch double-spoke wheels, elegantly finished in Jet Black.

The person configuring this X4 spared no expense with the options. Inside, the car features Vernasca leather in a luxurious Cognac finish, a choice that enhances nearly every BMW model offering this upholstery option. This G02-generation X4 sticks with the older iDrive system, making it one of the more traditional variants on the market. Depending on individual tastes, this aspect can be both appealing and less so. While some may prefer the newer dual-screen setup, others appreciate the classic feel of physical buttons on the centre console.

Sources near Munich suggest the current X4 won’t see a new generation with combustion engines. Instead, BMW will likely direct customers towards the latest X2, notably larger than its predecessor. Rumours indicate that production of the G02 model X4 may cease in November 2025.

However, the X4 could return later in the decade, reborn as the fully electric iX4 (NA7) on the Neue Klasse platform. The iX4 is expected to hit the market in 2026, meaning a potential M variant might not emerge until 2027. There’s also buzz about a high-performance internal M version, possibly dubbed the “ZA7.”
