It appears that another Italian is joining the BMW X3 M. Alda Romeo’s 503 hp SUV was once the X3 M’s main rival. The Maserati Grecale Trofeo, a close relative of the Stelvio, is now on the market. It is expected to compete in the same arena as the X3 M.
The Trofeo is a sharper variant of the normal Maserati Grecale, which is a standard X3 rival. It resembles a family Maserati SUV, comparable to the bulky Levante, but smaller. However, the smaller size fits better with Maserati’s design aesthetic, as it is more visually appealing than its older, larger sister.
The most stunning Maserati interior is in the Grecale Trofeo. The same great steering wheel as in any Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio (along with the same great paddle shifters) and new digital dials. It also gets a big, wide touchscreen infotainment system. As usual with Maseratis, it looks flawless, but wait to judge until you get the chance to sit in one, as the current Maseratis tend to disappoint in person.
The most important part is under the hood, where the Maserati Grecale Trofeo has a completely new engine. In 3.8 seconds, the Italian SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph, thanks to its 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6. Once the Maserati is available, it will be easier to determine which car is much more potent.
No doubt the Maserati Grecale Trofeo will be insanely fast. The Levante GTS was an absolute racer according to some who have driven it, although it was not even called the fastest Levante. Maserati’s top performance badge is the Trofeo, so this latest Grecale version should be as fast as the BMW X3 M Competition.
With the brand being unusual recently, many car enthusiasts are eager to test the Maserati Grecale Trofeo. For some, the new one compares pretty poorly to the fantastic previous-generation Quattroporte sedan. On the other hand, if Maserati is excellent, the car industry is better. So enthusiasts should hope that this new Grecale Trofeo is also great. Above all, it would be nice to have another extremely fast Italian car.
