BMW’s 7 Series is lining up for a mid-cycle refresh, and early test mules suggest Munich wants to tidy the look rather than tear up the rulebook. The silhouette stays familiar, with the same long bonnet, high shoulder line and that unmistakable split-lighting layout, but the details appear to be getting a firmer hand.
Up front, the nose looks set for a proper rework. Recent renderings based on prototypes point to kidney grilles that sit a touch taller, now filled with dark horizontal bars instead of the old vertical slats. That simple swap should make the face read cleaner and more modern, while the surrounding edges look slightly sharper, giving the car a more purposeful stare in the rear-view mirror.
The lighting also appears to be going on a diet. Thin LED running lights sit up near the bonnet shut line with a fresh signature, while the main headlamp units are pushed lower and look significantly smaller than before. Pair that with a more sculpted bumper, and the refreshed 7 Series could finally look less fussy and more resolved, even before you factor in different trims and wheel designs.
Around the sides, expect minimal changes—facelifts rarely mess with the surfacing here—but the rear should bring a new set of tail lights and a revised bumper treatment. The bigger story is what isn’t happening: this update looks like a polish, not a full Neue Klasse overhaul. That more radical transformation appears reserved for the next-generation 7 Series, leaving this facelift to bridge the gap with smarter styling and a calmer, more coherent presence.
