With charging networks improving and demand for compact EVs growing, the business case for a North American iX1 looks stronger than before, especially with the efficiency gains baked into the new platform.
Rival badges are already circling this class—think electric Mercedes GLA, Audi Q4 e-tron and Kia EV3—but the iX1 enters with clear intent. Short overhangs, a planted stance and BMW’s trademark steering tune should pay dividends on tight city streets and British B-roads alike, while a tidy cabin with up-to-date software rounds out the package.
