BMW will work with Marelli and Harman for the new infotainment system

BMW has chosen the partners that will provide their next-generation entry-level infotainment system. The lucky picks were Italy’s Magneti Marelli S.p.A. and Harman International Industries Inc. from the US.

This new infotainment system will be embedded in all the new platforms of BMW and Mini in 2013. This will debut when the new front-wheel and four-wheel-drive architecture is unveiled, starting with the third-generation Mini hatchback. This is the perfect technology to provide the market’s fast changing needs for future mobility. No further details have been disclosed.
Magnatti Marelli will be providing the open platform and Harman will work on the navigation, internet access, wired connectivity, and wireless connectivity. Magnatti will deliver the infotainment system in Europe, Harman will deliver to the Asian markets.
