The new BMW X5, arriving in 2026, will reaffirm its place against rivals like the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport. Sharper lines, a wider stance and a sleeker roofline will give the SUV a more athletic profile, while new lightbar-inspired rear styling and flush-mounted door handles add modern flair without compromising practicality.

BMW will continue with its flexible CLAR platform, offering petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions, with hydrogen a future possibility. Expect six-cylinder petrol power as standard, while the plug-in hybrid xDrive50e will deliver strong efficiency and pace. The all-electric iX5 is tipped to achieve well over 300 miles of range, with performance-focused versions slashing that figure for sheer speed.

Inside, the X5 will feature BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system, with a wide digital display stretching across the dashboard. Premium materials, vegan leather options, advanced sound systems and comfort-focused features such as heated seating will reinforce its luxury credentials. A longer wheelbase will also ensure more cabin space and greater comfort across three rows.
Technology will play a central role, with semi-autonomous driving aids, advanced sensors and collision-avoidance systems integrated into the digital cockpit. Set for reveal in mid-2026, with first deliveries in early 2027, the X5 will continue to define BMW’s SUV range by combining power, versatility and sophistication in one commanding package.
