Premium SUV Showdown: BMW X5 vs Lexus RX vs Mercedes-Benz GLE

Start your Monday by watching this interesting premium SUV showdown from Carwow. The channel is now famous because of the recent car Olympics that they did. In this video, they try to find out which one among the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Lexus RX is the best premium SUV. They reviewed almost all aspects of the SUVs including interior space, practicality, driving impressions and drag race abilities.

The review focuses on efficiency-minded SUVs because this is the new “cool” thing when choosing large cars today. People are more conscious about the environmental effect of the cars that they buy. Automakers are not making it easy to make a choice though. All of the three options presented here are actually good choices for anyone. Well, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d is actually a diesel and not a hybrid, but can still compete, efficiency wise with the two other hybrids it is stacking up against.

Carwow decided that the Lexus was the best looking among the three; followed closely by BMW X5. Interior wise, the Mercedes-Benz GLE wins because the X5’s interior is quite old and the Lexus’ is not very ergonomic.

Now on to the drag race… In a 30 meter dash, the BMW X5 was the fastest and was clearly the athlete among the three. The Lexus came in second and the Mercedes pulling up last. But even if the X5 was the fastest, its fuel economy was the worst — which is also pretty important in this test. The Lexus was the most economic, followed by the Mercedes.

Overall, Carwow gave the win to the Lexus RX 450h. It ticked more boxes that its competitors on all rounds. It was the most comfortable, best in fuel economy, and though it was only second fastest, it remained to be the most reliable among the three choices.
