The new F85 BMW X5 M is pitted against the previous generation E90 M3. Both cars are stock and equipped with an automatic transmission; the X5 M uses the 8-speed automatic while the E90 sends the power to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch gearbox. The new F85 BMW X5 M is powered by a reworked M TwinPower Turbo engine with a peak output of 567 hp. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.0 seconds. The last generation BMW M3 is powered by a naturally aspirated producing 414 and show 0 to 60 times of 3.9 seconds for the DCT-equipped models. The M3 weighs 1,685 kg (3,715 lb) while the new X5 M tips the scale at 2,386 kg (5,260 lbs). So with less power and lighter, would the E90 M3 win on a straight line?
