The demand for the BMW X3 continues to increase. Thus, BMW recognized the need for a larger manufacturing facility. 1.2 million square feet of floor space has just been added to the Spartanburg Plant in South Carolina, the center of X Series production, to solve this problem. From a production capacity of 150,000 units, it is now increased a year to 240,000 units a year. This means that more X Series vehicles will be made in the US and then exported to other countries. BMW is also working to make the Spartanburg Plant more sustainable by using methane energy, a new paint process, and reducing their landfill.
