[VIDEO] BMW X7 M50i By Manhart Stuns Enthusiast with Upgrades

In April, German tuner Manhart debuted the MHX7 650 package for the BMW X7 M50i, and now we’ve seen the first customer car with the upgrade. It removes the gold trim all over the body, but keeps the retro-style sticker at the top of the windscreen. With the help of a body kit with various carbon fibre add-ons, the M Performance SUV now has a significantly more aggressive aspect.

The custom exhaust on this X7 has been adjusted to provide a menacing sound that perfectly complements the vehicle’s imposing appearance. During the SCC500 event in Germany’s Zweibrücken airport, a few of YouTubers caught footage of Manhart’s super SUV. Not even a fully-fledged X7 M would be this aggressive, given that it appears and sounds too excessive for a production M SUV.

Manhart increased the 4.4-liter V8 with dual turbochargers from 530 to 650 horsepower. There’s now 700 lb-ft of torque, up from 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) (950 Nm). The LCI was released this year, therefore the M60i represents its mild-hybrid S68 engine. New turbochargers have a lighter oil sump, pump, and blow-off valve.

As you’re probably aware, the X7 M50i is technically no longer available in BMW’s portfolio. With the LCI introduced earlier this year, the M Performance variant was bumped to the M60i designation to signal a switch to the company’s new mild-hybrid S68 engine. It makes the same power and torque as before, but the engineers added a blow-off valve to the updated turbochargers and a lighter oil sump. We’ll see if lowering the N63 improves performance or just efficiency. ALPINA has introduced the LCI-based XB7 with an electrified V8 for X7 M fans. Manhart tuners are constantly keen to boost the 4.4-liter engine’s power.
