Palbay has just published a set of photos showing the upcoming G05 BMW X5 prototype with M Sport Package cruising around South Carolina, doing a test run months before its unveiling. BMW will be announcing the completely new X5 model only 5 years after the last one, introduced in 2013.
The new X5 is going to be built on the CLAR platform, which means it’ll be lighter, but firmer and more flexible. It should also consume less fuel than its predecessor.
When it comes to design, it will be quite similar to the previous model. The G05 will feature similar headlights and kidney grille as seen in the new X3, with larger air curtains at the front. The side view reveals a more flowy roofline and the car looks a bit more dynamic overall.
As for the models, the choice will mostly remain the same. The sDrive35i and the xDrive35i will be replaced with 40i versions and have upgraded B58 3.0-liter straight-six engine, delivering 320 HP.
