A new record was achieved by BMW Group for November 2016 as total global sales increases by 6.2%. Total sales amounted to 209,743 units, and a year-to-date sales total of 2,152,393. That’s an increase of 5.8% year-to-date, compared with the same period last year.
“We have achieved yet another month of solid growth across all the BMW Group’s premium brands,†said Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Marketing BMW. “We have grown our sales every month since November 2011 – five years of continuously increasing sales, in line with the expansion of our model range. The addition of our electrified vehicles has made a significant contribution to that growth and that segment is growing month for month,†he added.
Contributing to this success is the increase in sales for the BMW X1 (up by 74.4%), BMW X5 (up by 17.6%), BMW 7 Series (up by 70.3%), and MINI brand vehicles (up by 7.9%).
Year-to-date, global sales of BMW electric vehicles totaled to 54,857. “It’s clear that those markets which actively support electro-mobility are seeing the fastest growth when it comes to alternative-drive vehicles,†commented Dr Ian Robertson. “The addition of the BMW 5 Series and MINI Countryman plug-in hybrid versions in the first half of 2017 is set to increase sales of BMW Group electrified models significantly next year – we have set ourselves the ambitious target of 100,000 units,†he continued.
Strong growth has also been seen in Europe (up by 10.6%) and Asia (up by 14.8%) this year.
