World Premiere: MINI John Cooper Works Clubman

MINI USA has just introduced the new 2017 MINI John Cooper Works Clubman. This new vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology engine delivering 228 hp. In the ALL4 all-wheel drive system, it is also able to churn 258 lb-ft of torque — that’s the highest torque a MINI car has ever had. To further thrill the market, the new MINI John Cooper Works Clubman also has a sports exhaust, refined suspension technology and powerful Brembo brakes.

“Performance and versatility are part of our DNA and our heritage so naturally there has always been a plan in place to bring the John Cooper Works variant to the MINI Clubman model,” said Thomas Felbermair, Vice President MINI of the Americas. “The addition of the John Cooper Works design and performance enhancements and the new ALL4 all-wheel drive system to the already versatile MINI Clubman model we have once again raised the bar in the premium compact segment.”

The new MINI John Cooper Works Clubman reaches 0 – 60 mph in merely six seconds. That’s the result for both the standard 6-speed manual transmission and the optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The ALL4 all-wheel drive system works to distribute the appropriate power as needed between the front and rear wheels in every situation on the road. The Launch Control function included also enables traction-optimized acceleration with maximum dynamic performance from a stopped position.

On the looks, the new MINI John Cooper Works Clubman sits 0.4 inch lower to the ground than the predecessor. It thus look sportier and more aggressive. This also enhances aerodynamics and handling performance.

The interior is in sports-car style complete with sports seats in Dinamica/fabric and Carbon Black with integrated headrests, John Cooper Works door sill finishers, roof liner in anthracite, John Cooper Works leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles in conjunction with the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, gear lever or selector lever and cockpit displays in model-specific design, pedals and driver footrest in stainless steel.
