BMW Group Plant Regensburg has reached an impressive milestone in 2024, producing its 100,000th fully electric vehicle. The landmark car, a BMW iX1 in Blue Bay Lagoon metallic, is destined for La Réunion, showcasing the plant’s global reach. Since November 2022, the Regensburg facility has been at the forefront of manufacturing premium compact electric models for customers worldwide.

Milan Nedeljkovi?, BMW AG Board Member for Production, highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting the company’s diverse range of fully-electric vehicles across all major segments. “Our German plants are leading the way in e-mobility, catering to the global market and driving its expansion,” he shared.
Plant Director Armin Ebner praised the team’s dedication, emphasising how the BMW iX1 and iX2 models have met customer demands despite fluctuating market conditions. With over 1,400 BMW X1 and X2 vehicles rolling off the assembly line daily, the plant has exceeded expectations for 2024, producing a mix of combustion-engine, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric models. The facility expects to surpass last year’s production numbers significantly this year, with over 330,000 vehicles projected.

The plant’s commitment to innovation is evident in its strides toward becoming a more digital, circular, and efficient operation under the BMW iFactory vision. Accolades like the “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” award for large-scale assembly and the BMW X1’s recognition as “Best Car” highlight Regensburg’s industry-leading performance. Ebner extended his gratitude to the team and partners, underscoring the collective effort behind these achievements.
This milestone reinforces BMW’s push toward electrification, reflecting the brand’s focus on meeting customer needs while transforming its production capabilities for a sustainable future.
