BMW beats Lexus for third straight month in the US

BMW’s August 2010 US sales had decreased 1.6% compared to the sales last August 2009. But setting the figures from last year aside, BMW’s US sales still increased 1.6% last month compared to July. This was enough to beat Lexus as the top US luxury brand for the third straight month.

BMW sales increased to 19,540 as their 1 Series and 7 Series gained 53% and 42% deliveries respectively. Lexus deliveries on the other hand decreased 15% to just 19,465.

Jim O’Donnell, BMW of North America president, said “we are seeing a slowdown in the market and do not expect the second half of the year to be as strong as the first half. Despite this, building momentum throughout the year and narrowing the gap with our competitors is still our plan.”

BMW’s US sales increased 7.8% percent to 139,236 units sold this year alone.
