BMW M Team WRT Shines in Austin with Strong Performance

BMW M Team WRT delivered a standout performance at the FIA World Endurance Championship race in Austin, demonstrating the growing potential of their BMW M Hybrid V8s. Both cars showed impressive speed throughout the event, with the #15 car achieving its best finish of the season, crossing the line in 8th place. This result marked a significant step forward for the team as they continue to refine their strategy and performance in this highly competitive series.

The #20 car, driven by René Rast and his teammates, was in contention for a podium finish for much of the race. However, two late-race penalties dropped them down the order, resulting in a 14th-place finish. Despite the setback, the team’s pace was a positive takeaway, proving they can compete at the front of the pack.

In the LMGT3 class, the #31 BMW M4 GT3, piloted by Darren Leung, Sean Gelael, and Augusto Farfus, showcased resilience by climbing from 10th to 5th place, even after serving a drive-through penalty. This performance underlined the car’s competitiveness and the team’s ability to recover from challenging situations. Unfortunately, the #46 car, after a strong run that saw it move up from 15th to 4th, was forced to retire just minutes before the race’s end due to a power steering issue, a disappointing conclusion to an otherwise solid effort.

The weekend’s results have given BMW M Team WRT plenty of positives to build on as they prepare for the upcoming race in Fuji. The team remains optimistic, focusing on maintaining their momentum and fine-tuning their performance to challenge for top positions in the season’s final rounds.
