BMW’s chief executive, Oliver Zipse, confirmed the immediate sell-out during the firm’s half-year earnings call, noting unprecedented demand for the new halo project.

Conceived as a lavish reinterpretation of the 8 Series coupé, the Speedtop swaps the standard roofline for a hand-finished, wagon-style profile that blends long-distance grandeur with purposeful stance. Bespoke body panels, an extended hatch, and tailored aero detailing set it apart, while the small-series build process promises coach-built precision more usually reserved for one-off concepts.

Power comes from the most potent V8 currently found in BMW’s line-up: a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged unit likely lifted from the M8, sending an estimated 617 horsepower to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic and performance-tuned xDrive system.
