[Video] Standard BMW M3 Dares Lexus RCF Track Edition

Ever since the debut of the BMW M3, we have seen it compared to its several competitors. Straight Pipes gives us one that we have not seen before with the M3. It is something worth checking out. Straight Pipes releases a new video of the standard BMW M3 in manual transmission, going head-to-head with the Lexus RCF Track Edition.

Both cars produce similar power, with the M3 making 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the RCF makes 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. The BMW M3 comes with a manual transmission and is a four-door sedan, while the RCF uses an automatic transmission. This standard version of the BMW M3 comes packed with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six. Its rival Lexus gets the dated 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine.

This comparison could be one of the best fascinating comparisons seen with the new BMW M3. Both share similar specs but, better at each other at some things. The RCF is far more charismatic when driven in the real world due to its impressive engine. BMW’s M3 then is faster than its rival when taken into roads, with its flat turbocharged torque curve.

The standard BMW M3 looks better than its new M siblings, yet the Lexus appears to look a bit better. Lexus RCF has these massive grilles at the front that used to be mocked by BMW fans. However, things turned over when BMW made its grilles on the M3 even bigger than needed.

Taking both cars on track and road, the BMW M3 still drives better than the Lexus. It is more capable and faster when taking it on roads.

Getting either of these cars would cost you much as both come at high prices. The standard BMW M3 used in this test costs over $90,000 Canadian. It is a bit pricey for such a base model to some. BMWs rival Lexus RCF Track Edition is more of a match with the BMW M4 CS, with prices ranging over $100,000. However, both still come in powerful engines and outstanding performance. So which car is the best pick?
