2026 BMW i5 Gains Range Boost And Features Without Cost

The 2026 BMW i5 enters the new model year with meaningful upgrades, yet without adding to its price tag. At a time when many manufacturers are nudging prices upward, BMW is enhancing its all-electric 5 Series saloon to make it more efficient, more comfortable and more appealing.

The headline improvement is range. The i5 now benefits from updated silicon carbide semiconductors and optimised wheel bearings that reduce friction and rolling resistance. These changes translate to extra miles for the core models, giving drivers greater real-world usability without altering the car’s character.

Beyond efficiency, BMW has added more to the cabin experience. A Harman Kardon audio system and lumbar support are now standard across the line-up, while interior details receive gloss-black switchgear, refreshed ambient lighting and new Merino leather colourways. A striking Frozen Portimao Blue joins the exterior paint palette, reinforcing the premium appeal.

The technology suite remains a strong point, with iDrive 8.5, wireless smartphone connectivity and fast-charging capability that replenishes from 10 to 80 per cent in around half an hour. Combined with the brand’s recently extended EV warranty, the 2026 i5 represents a carefully sharpened package, carrying over its poised driving dynamics while adding extra polish and practicality for everyday use.
