The upcoming BMW M5 will change the way we view all-wheel drive cars. It will have the same engine architecture and displacement as its predecessor but it will behave completely differently on the road and on track. It will be powered by an enhanced version of the S64 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine of the F10 M5 that delivers 600 HP and more torque than ever.

The new F90 M5 gets from 0-60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds and this makes it the fastest accelerating BMW in the history of the automaker. The rear differential is the same as the M3 and M4’s but it is equipped with carbon clutch blades for quicker and more precise torque vectoring.

The xDrive all-wheel drive system in the F90 M5 has three different modes and the ability to be completely rear-wheel drive. The driver can choose from the regular “4WD”, “4WD Sport”, or “2WD” – a different experience and mechanism for each one.

Stay tuned for its unveil in a few week’s time!
