Spotted: MINI F60 Countryman in Germany

The new MINI F60 Countryman is only days far from the unveiling. Prior the official show-off, it can be seen in Europe, running the final testings. A new MINI SUV with partial camouflage was spotted in Munich.

It runs on a BMW UKL architecture. The plan is to convert all of the MINI cars to the front-wheel drive platform. For start, it will be done with the smaller models – the convertible, the hatch, the five-door, and the compact class offshoot Clubman.

The new F60 is built on a somewhat larger architecture, temporarily dubbed UKL2. It is good for four-wheel drive integration. It features a Haldex clutch which helps route the power to the rear wheels in situations where additional traction is needed.

The new Countryman will be more spacious on the inside and use higher quality materials to remain the premium status English cars have been having for decades.

The design closely follows the steps of the first MINI SUV generation. It’s soft, round, with a low gravity center, and lots of space on the inside. Not surprisingly, the trademark MINI signs will remain the same, such as the round headlights.
